How to write service pages that turn visitors into calls
ARJ Labs Web Studio Published October 26, 2026.
A good service page tells a visitor what you do, where you do it, and how to reach you, all on the first screen. Get those three things right and your page works harder for you on Google, in AI tools like ChatGPT, and with the customer who just landed on it.
Give every service its own clear page
Customers in Dover, Portsmouth and around the Seacoast search for a specific job, like "water heater installation" or "gutter cleaning near me." A page built around that one job is easier for them to find and easier for them to act on. A single page that lists everything you do in one paragraph makes them guess.
Use a simple five-part framework
Every service page can follow the same order:
- Name the service in the headline. "Water heater installation in Dover, NH" beats "Our services."
- Say what is included. List the actual tasks, in plain words.
- Say who you serve. Name your towns and the kinds of customers you work with.
- Make contact easy. Put your phone number or a short form where people can see it without scrolling.
- Explain what happens next. Tell them how fast you reply and what the first visit or call looks like.
Write for your customer, not about yourself
Visitors want to know whether you can fix their problem. Lead with their problem and your fix. Keep sentences short, skip trade jargon, and use the words your customers use when they call you.
Help Google and AI tools understand the page
Search engines and AI assistants pull from pages that answer questions directly. A few habits help:
- Answer the main question in the first two sentences.
- Use short sections with plain headings.
- Mention your service area naturally.
- Add a short FAQ with the questions customers already ask you on the phone.
Keep the page current
Prices, service areas and hours change. A page that stays accurate keeps earning trust from customers and from search tools. Put a reminder on your calendar to review each service page every few months. Check the links on the page at the same time. Our guide to fixing broken links on your small business website shows how to find and fix dead ones.
Want help modernizing your site?
ARJ Labs builds and runs websites for local businesses so they get found on Google and in AI tools. The standard site is $300 to launch for up to 3 pages, then $299 a month for the Engine, which covers hosting, monitoring and security, Google and AI search improvements, one monthly article and a clear report. Cancel anytime, effective at the end of your paid monthly period. See everything included on the Services page, request a build on the Get started page, or run a free website audit to see how your current site scores on 20 public checks.
Frequently asked questions
How long should a service page be?
Long enough to answer what you do, where, what is included and how to reach you. For most local services that fits on one or two screens, plus a short FAQ.
Should each service have its own page?
Yes, for your main services. A page focused on one job is easier for customers and search tools to match to a search.
Where should my phone number go?
Near the top, visible without scrolling, and again at the end of the page.
